Les troubles à Port-au-Prince de cette semaine affectent aussi la vie au campus du STEP à Bolosse. Vous pouvez lire ci-dessous une communication de l'un de nos coopérant-missionnaires en date du 9 avril 2008.
===========
We've been told Haiti is making the news once again and not for good reasons. There have been demonstrations/strikes in the south of Haiti which have moved to Port-au-Prince. The reason is the high price of food. Yes, the high price of food is affecting everyone. I'm so thankful for those we can help but there are so many needs. The problem is that the demonstrations turn into violence and looting. Petionville was the scene of many broken store windows and vandalized properties yesterday. Pray for the safety of innocent people who can get caught up in the "mob" scene. Pray for our Haitian friends who see their country going from bad to worse.
STEP classes have been cancelled since Monday and there is not much hope they will resume for the rest of the week. Everyone is cautioned to stay home and not go out on the streets. Night before last was a very noisy night with "conch" shells blowing and tin roofs being pounded which is a sign of unrest/displeasure/instability. There has been sporadic gunfire/explosions/burning tires.
WE DO NOT FEEL THREATENED PERSONALLY but we also are not leaving campus. This is affecting the campus in that our area is getting no electricity because no one is going to work. We are getting low on fuel for the generator and having difficulties with the water pump.
Pray for the Crisis Management Team as they deal with this situation.
None of this is a surprise to our God and we are resting in His sovereignty.
Thanks for praying.
